These movies are about family, the ups and downs, the "I'm right", the blame, and then the reconciliation at the end. I loved these movies, but these are some lessons that you can learn without the nudges and "see? see? I told you so" from your family members.
Marriage Story: Netflix
Marriage Story: This is so real. I felt like I was watching a reality show at times because of its raw nature (eg: one of the lawyers sneeze in the courtroom). Marriage Story is a beautiful movie that starts at the end of the marriage. Charlie and Nicole begin with writing the reasons that they love each other, but the letters never get read. They experience a clean divorce in the beginning until Nicole moves to Los Angeles and hires a lawyer which is when all the secrets are revealed and they explode on each other. This movie makes you laugh and cry, and sometimes it's within the same scene, but in the end they put their differences aside because Henry was having a really tough time. Marriage Story is a wonderful movie, but make sure that you have a box of tissues nearby.
Like Father: Netflix
Like Father: This story has been told before. Workaholic gets dumped and goes on a wild vacation and finds themselves. But I can say that I haven't seen the element of the estranged father coming back on her wedding day where she gets left at the alter. Watching this movie, I started to get scared for myself. Rachel (left) is so much like me, in the sense that work comes first, then social/romantic life. It made me reevaluate my position in life and I made some changes. While it was great for me and all, I felt like the actors lacked the chemistry that was expected, so their performances felt a bit flat.
